Solve food sector supply chain, ex-Agriculture deputy minister tells Azmin
The supply chain in the food sector is disrupted because the movement control order (MCO) has been coordinated poorly, said former Agriculture and Agro-based Industry deputy minister Sim Tze Tzin.
In a joint statement with Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) chairperson, Faiz Fadzil, Sim (photo) urged the food supply special committee - chaired by International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali - to work harder to solve the problem.

In a joint statement with Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) chairperson, Faiz Fadzil, Sim (photo) urged the national food supply special committee - chaired by International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali - to work harder to solve the problem.
They suggested to the government to implement a "guaranteed buyback scheme" to buy all food, excess fish supplies from fishermen, throughout the order.
"This step is to ensure the security of the national food supply. LKIM can be tasked to implement the scheme.
"A network of fishermen associations and LKIM are competent to implement the scheme.
"Although the prime minister had said that there would be enough food, the people cannot feel it," they said.
The statement followed the news that hundreds of dozens of vegetables in Cameron Highlands were disposed of due to various problems and regulations imposed by the authorities over the MCO.
Today, a fishermen association told Malaysiakini the losses were estimated to be in millions of ringgit after fishermen had to dispose of fish due to problems surrounding the MCO.
