Johor assembly ends with status quo
The Johor state assembly ended with the status quo today, with both Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan abiding by a royal decree not to engage in politicking.

Johor Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad said he would ensure all assemblypersons abide by Sultan Ibrahim's decree and work together to help the people amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
State Harapan chief Aminolhuda Hassan likewise said they would not engage in political manoeuvring at this time.
The uneventfulness in Johor bucked the trend of calamity in Malacca and Perak this week, where PN moved to remove the sitting state speakers.
"We are very grateful to the sultan for his decree because I believe that all assemblypersons be they from the state government or opposition," Hasni said in a press conference after the sitting ended
There was previously speculation that Hasni would make a similar move against Johor speaker Suhaizan Kaiat, but this did not materialise.
At a separate press conference, Aminolhuda did indicate that Harapan was prepared to strike back in case PN pulled off anything in the state assembly sitting today.
This is possibly in reference to a purported no-confidence motion against Hasni that was in the works.
Aminolhuda claimed that Harapan does have the numbers, but will pull the trigger at a more appropriate time.
"Wait and see," he said when asked how many assemblypersons Harapan has on its side.
He added that Harapan, too, will focus on helping the people face the Covid-19 pandemic.
Harapan was ousted from Johor after Bersatu left the coalition to form PN with Umno, BN and PAS.
However, PN does not have a strong majority in the state, with just 29 seats against 27 from Harapan's.
A single defection from PN would cause a hung assembly.
Previously Harapan claimed that not all Bersatu assemblypersons had backed an alleged bid by Hasni to secure support to remove Suhaizan.
Bersatu has been at odds with Umno over political appointments, with the former accusing the latter of sidelining them.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Gambir assemblyperson, had intervened last week and urged both sides to resolve their dispute, but there still appears to be lingering tensions.
Bersatu is also split among itself between those loyal to Muhyiddin and those who side with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Harapan.
