YOURSAY | ‘Didn't PAS support DAP and defend it against Umno’s fitnah at one time…’

PAS leader suggests Dr M a 'coward' for working with DAP

Constitutional Supremacy: PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad, I am appalled by your statement.

What did you say and what did you do when you and PAS were working with DAP in the state governments of Perak and Selangor?

Didn't you and PAS supported DAP and defended it against Umno’s fitnah at that time, and also campaigned for DAP in previous general elections?

But now you and PAS are working with Umno and do a U-turn to fitnah DAP instead. Where are your integrity and dignity?

Vijay47: Challenges certainly come in twos - in my distant childhood, it was police and thieves but now Idris has introduced cowards and heroes, setting me off on a quest to find the Golden Fleece and touch the Holy Grail.

So according to this latest Magi from PAS, the Malays are heroes and anyone who associates with that damn ‘Chinese-dominated party’ DAP is a coward. The implication is that PAS members are lining up to collect the Victoria Cross, Ashoka Chakra, and Medal of Honour all rolled into one.

First, what is so objectionable about the DAP? You seemed very comfortable when in their recent company? Was it perhaps the RM4 billion that Lim Guan Eng lavishly allocated for Muslim affairs only to be topped by RM5 billion the following year?

I know, I know, it must be that when your state was on the verge of starvation, almost begging in the streets like the Rohingyas, that fool of a finance minister granted you a meagre RM9 million, barely enough to buy 14 Mercedes Benz! The unfortunate PAS office boy had to manage with a miserable Camry.

Did DAP, or anybody else for that matter, ever intrude into or attempt to restrict issues relating to that famous trio of race, religion, and ruler?

Perhaps, Idris, you are unhappy that DAP and the non-Malays had the temerity to ask to be allowed the bare necessities guaranteed to citizens by the Constitution. Remember the Constitution, that scrap of paper PAS and Umno don’t care two hoots for?

Wait, I know who the Malay heroes are. They are the leaders who fearlessly headed organisations like Felda, Mara, 1MDB and yes, Tabung Haji, all established to further the cause of that famous trio.

David Copperfield would have been so impressed with what these guys did to national funds. Where is a DPP (deputy public prosecutor) or the Wolf from Wall Street when you need one?

Gabbar Singh: Dear Idris, I have great respect for religious-political leaders like yourself. This means that you agree with the moral belief to tell the truth.

You said: “Malays who fight DAP are those brave to swim upstream because they disagree with the concept brought by the party and its attempt to unravel the social contract...”.

Kindly tell us what did DAP do in the last 22 months which unravelled the social contract that you speak about.

Sir, kindly do provide examples of how the Malays suffered with the unravelling of the social contract. I am sure that you will not find any.

Sir, your party is in collaboration with Umno leaders such as Najib Abdul Razak, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and others. They are charged with plundering the nation’s wealth for their own benefit, be it through money laundering or corruption.

Did these people not unravel the social contract to benefit themselves to the exclusion of the Malaysians (this would include the Malays, Chinese and Indians) who also helped this country to win its independence?

Quigonbond: Malays and Muslims who refuse to work with others and keep using identity politics in their policy discourse are the real cowards because they prefer to let voters stick their heads in the sand instead of doing something tangible to meet global challenges.

How can they even call themselves Malaysians when Malaysia has become part of United Nations (UN) for over 50 years, and tacitly accepted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which among other things to treat all humans as having the same rights?

Instead of going forward, they go backwards treating LGBTs (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community) as fourth-class citizens - worse than illegal immigrants - and the non-Malays as second-class citizens. Instead of going forward, their politics suggest regression in terms of rule of law.

That a lot of voters support them may give them short-term comfort. But they are condemning their own voters to a fate far worse than what they fear the non-Malays can visit upon them.

When incompetent fools passing off as religious and nationalists become leaders and run the Malaysian ship aground, the non-Malays will be able to scrounge for food like they've always done because they have given up relying on the government. But it is the Malay-Muslims who will suffer most.

So how do you define principled Malays? Does that include former PKR deputy leader Azmin Ali who had been working with DAP for more than a decade?

Odysseus: Idris, Malays refused to bow to major powers? You must be kidding. Have you forgotten how Najib and Umno went begging in China to bail out 1MDB?

Be honest to yourself and your future generations about the debt trap he has put Malaysia into to save himself.

Joseph_183: Dear Idris, DAP led the Penang state government for more than 10 years.

Had they done anything to the detriment of the Malays? Are there Malays abandoning Penang in droves for fear of being discriminated or ostracised?

The answer is obviously ‘no’. So, what are you fearful of?

Cynical: The late Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat worked with DAP too when PAS was in Pakatan Rakyat. So he was a coward according to Idris?

The real cowards are those who wanted to perpetuate the idea that it is better to have a corrupt leader so long he is of the same race and religion than a clean leader from another race and religion.

Indeed, People who agree to work with all races against corruption, abuse of power and cronyism are the real heroes.

Cure for Stupidity: How many terms have DAP together with its Harapan partners ruled Penang? How many terms has Harapan ruled Selangor? Are the Malays ostracised? Has Islam lost its shine?

I know it is difficult to convince some with factual evidence, as they are blinded by self-interest, power and corrupt practices - all disguised by race and religion.

GooseNBanter: “Idris added that PAS and Umno, as well as the majority of Malays, are battling DAP in order to safeguard the position of Islam and Malay rights.”

Again, you see the elephant, but miss the whale in the room. Just a few days back, a Malay-Muslim security guard who lost his job was found lying dead by the road. He was walking home on a 300km journey while infected with Covid-19. He died a lonely, indignifying death.

His family, when informed, could ill afford the final Muslim rites for his send-off. Funds were collected from the general public, not from DAP, PAS or even Umno. How has your years of bravely ‘battling’ DAP helped this man in any way at all?

Your pathetic script has to change; nobody believes you anymore. Even many of the Malay-Muslims themselves.
