Raid on undocumented migrants underway in PJ Old Town
UPDATED | An operation on undocumented migrants at PJ Old Town is underway as police and Immigration personnel move in just three days before the enhanced movement control order (MCO) is expected to end in the area on May 23.
Many police officers were spotted riding into the locked down area starting from 8am this morning as some parts of the barbed wire fence were opened up to let them in.

An operation on undocumented migrants at PJ Old Town is underway as police and Immigration personnel move in just three days before the enhanced movement control order (MCO) is expected to end in the area on May 23.
Many police officers were spotted riding into the locked down zone starting from 8am this morning as some parts of the barbed wire fence were opened up to let them in.
Immigration personnel were also on the scene and drones were seen monitoring the area.
A source told Malaysiakini that an intergrated operation led by the Immigration Department, including raids on undocumented migrants, would be carried out.
Two men were seen in handcuffs and a woman was also arrested by the Immigration Department.
The area was announced as an enhanced MCO site since May 10 and it is supposed to end on May 23.
There have been 28 positive Covid-19 cases in the area, two of them are outside of the enhanced MCO site.
The Immigration Department has previously come under sharp criticism for carrying out raids on migrants in the enhanced MCO zones in Selayang and Selangor Mansion, Jalan Masjid India in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud who was on site, gave a speech at around 11.50am, confirming the operation and that arrests had begun.
He said he expected that around 200 undocumented migrants would be arrested.
