Ismail Sabri: Don't think recovery MCO means enforcement is relaxed
CORONAVIRUS | Just because Malaysia is now under the recovery movement control order (MCO) does not mean that the authorities have relaxed the enforcement of strict rules and guidelines, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily briefing today.
"The Royal Police Malaysia through its task force made 65,482 inspections yesterday to enforce compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

"The Royal Malaysia Police through its task force made 65,482 inspections yesterday to enforce compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This, he said, involved a total of 3,748 compliance teams comprising 16,743 members.
"Police arrested 23 people and issued compound fines to 61 others yesterday for breaching recovery MCO SOPs.
"It does not mean that because we have gone from the conditional MCO to the recovery MCO that there will be no enforcement action. The people must still follow the SOPs and rules in place. If you don't, action will be taken," he said.
Ismail added that 1,821 of 1,866 premises inspected yesterday complied with recovery MCO SOPs.
He said that since April 3, 51,521 individuals who came back to the country have completed mandatory Covid-19 quarantine and allowed to return to their homes.
Ismail said as of yesterday, 1,517 undocumented migrants have been arrested for various immigration offences under the Ops Benteng operation.
Yesterday, four foreign nationals were apprehended at roadblocks for immigration violations, he added.
"The government will continue to take action against illegal activities, and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten border control especially 'rat' trails," he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail said the government has been proactive in conducting Covid-19 tests for those detained.
“Those who tested positive were sent to the quarantine and treatment centre in Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang.
“A total of 813 people have been treated, including 430 who have been discharged and will be deported, ” he said.
Ismail also clarified that operators of buses for factory workers and tourists are also allowed to carry passengers at full capacity, the same as what was announced yesterday for express buses.
He also confirmed that under the recovery MCO, the government has allowed meetings, courses, seminars and training sessions to be held subject to SOPs.
Ismail said these SOPs are being fine-tuned by the National Security Council and Health Ministry, and he hoped to be able to announce them soon.
