Noh steps down as MISC chair after consulting PM
Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar has stepped down as MISC Bhd chairperson just two weeks after he was appointed.
According to the company's filing on Bursa Malaysia today, the reason for Noh's resignation was "(he) made the decision to tender his resignation upon discussion with the honourable prime minister of Malaysia".

The appointment took effect on June 1 while his resignation took effect on June 17. Noh, 62, (above) was given a non-independent and non-executive role.
MISC Bhd was previously called Malaysia International Shipping Corporation. It was founded by Robert Kuok in 1968.
The company was eventually bought over by Petronas.
According to the MISC Bhd's annual report for 2019, Noh's predecessor Abdul Halim Mohyiddin was paid RM278,500 that year in fees and meeting allowances.
MISC paid its chairperson a fee of RM20,000 a month with RM10,000 for board members.
In 2019, MISC posted a profit of a whopping RM1.43 billion.
