MACC nabs ex-Penang Port Commission top official, 'new evidence' in undersea tunnel probe
The MACC has obtained new evidence in its probe into the Penang undersea tunnel project, which led to the arrest of a former Penang Port Commission top official today.
When contacted, a source familiar with the investigations confirmed the man was arrested at 2pm at the Penang MACC headquarters and will be produced in court tomorrow.

The Putrajaya-based source told Malaysiakini that MACC had reopened its probe on the undersea tunnel project based on "some new evidence".
"Many witnesses will be called. They are from the state officers," said the source.
It is understood that the man, a former state party official, was summoned to the anti-corruption commission's headquarters earlier this afternoon to have his statement recorded.
The Star reported that MACC officers had also searched the man's house in Batu Ferringhi.
The undersea tunnel is slated to be a 7.2km tunnel that connects George Town on Penang Island to Butterworth on the mainland - one component of the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) which was planned as far back as 2011.
The MACC first began its probe on the project in January 2018.
