MACC obtains 4-day remand for ex-Penang Port Commission top official
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a four-day remand for a former Penang Port Commission top official who was arrested yesterday.

"The MACC had applied for a seven-day remand, but we objected.
"After hearing our arguments, the Magistrate (Court senior assistant registrar) Nur Fadrina Zulkhairi allowed the remand for four days, which is until Saturday," said Rayer, who is also the Jelutong MP.
Rayer said the defence team also comprised Ramkarpal Singh and Gobind Singh.
When asked about the investigation, Rayer only said it was concerning a report lodged with MACC.
However, a source told Malaysiakini yesterday that the probe was related to the Penang undersea tunnel project.
"The report was not exactly against him. But there was a report lodged with MACC.
"I am not at liberty to disclose this further," Rayer said.
He added that it is unclear for now which section his client is being probed as the MACC has yet to disclose the details but stressed that he is confident that his client did not commit any offence.
"We are confident that he did not do anything wrong," he said.
Yesterday, the suspect was arrested at 2pm at the Penang MACC headquarters.
The Putrajaya-based source told Malaysiakini that MACC had reopened its probe on the undersea tunnel project based on "some new evidence".
The undersea tunnel is slated to be a 7.2km tunnel that connects George Town on Penang Island to Butterworth on the mainland - one component of the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) which was planned as far back as 2011.
The MACC first began its probe on the project in January 2018.
