Time to reveal details of Harapan's Pedra Branca act - Umno man to PN govt
Umno supreme council member Razlan Rafii has called on the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to reveal details behind Malaysia’s controversial withdrawal from the Pulau Batu Puteh (Pedra Branca) sovereignty dispute case by the previous government.
He said Malaysians were left guessing as to the motive behind the move by the previous Pakatan Harapan government to drop its suit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2018.

He said Malaysians were left guessing as to the motive behind the move by the previous Pakatan Harapan government to drop its suit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2018.
“Our regret is that the actions of the Harapan government cost the country.
“[...] It is time for PN to reveal and expose all matters related to the Harapan’s betrayal to the country. The people must know the truth behind the controversy,” he said in a statement.
The current PN regime is made up of several former cabinet ministers from Bersatu and PKR who served the Harapan government before its collapse earlier this year. This includes then-foreign affairs minister Saifuddin Abdullah.
Not long after GE14, it was revealed that the new Harapan government under then-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad had officially dropped a request to overturn the ICJ’s 2008 ruling which awarded legal jurisdiction of Pulau Batu Puteh to Singapore.
The decision was objected to by BN, which labelled the move a “moral defeat” for Malaysia.
This was done when former attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali had been told to go on a leave of absence by Mahathir.
This followed accusations the former had attempted to cover-up former BN prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s alleged wrongdoings in the 1MDB scandal.
Apandi recently claimed he had more information pertaining to the Batu Puteh affair which he said he planned to reveal in his upcoming memoir.
“There are so many other things. Batu Puteh incident […] why Mahathir withdrew the case at the eleventh hour although everything had been filed and fixed for hearing.”
“Many, many stories. A lot to write, a lot to tell,” he reportedly said last month.
