Citing heavy penalties worldwide, MCA's international communication and diplomacy bureau chairperson Dr Tee Ching Seng has lauded a plan by his party chief and Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong to toughen efforts to curb driving under the influence (DUI).

"Plans by the Ministry of Transport to table in Parliament, amendments to the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) to toughen efforts to curb driving under the influence (DUI) and impose stiffer penalties on irresponsible drivers who cause death by DUI are welcomed.
