Traffic cops praised for saving wounded monkey on highway
Several days after rescuing a wounded monkey on the busy Kajang Silk Highway, traffic police officer Azizi Adnan found himself showered with compliments from netizens.

The incident took place around noon on July 21 when Azizi, who is attached to Bukit Aman's Traffic and Investigation department, was patrolling the area.
"I was patrolling along KM27.2 of the Sungai Ramal-bound road when I saw something in the middle of the road.
"I thought it was a small child who had fallen onto the road but it turned out to be a monkey.
"Its head was bleeding. It must have been hit by a motorcycle," the policeman told Malaysiakini.
Azizi proceeded to stop oncoming traffic to ensure the primate was not run over.
With the help of a kind motorcyclist, the monkey was taken off the bustling highway and deposited in the secondary forest adjacent to a slip road.
"We save lives, it doesn't matter if they are humans, monkeys or dogs.
"Besides, the monkey in the middle of the road could pose a danger to other road users.
"Accidents could happen," said Azizi.
He also noted that the cooperation between the policemen and a member of the public as shown in the video embodied the spirit of "Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada" ("Police and the community are inseparable").
He, however, expressed concerns on the regular presence of monkeys on the highway.
"Probably their habitat has encroached. Otherwise, they wouldn't get lost here," he said.
