Wanita PKR today moved to fill several vacancies left behind by a series of defections by leaders aligned to former party deputy president Azmin Ali.
With newly appointed Wanita PKR chief Fuziah Salleh (above) at the helm, the wing's committee yesterday decided to appoint Batu Tiga assemblyperson Rodziah Ismail as the Selangor Wanita PKR chief.
Wanita PKR secretary Nor Azrina Surip, in a statement, said the decision was made following consultation with division and state chiefs.
Rodziah takes over from Sementa assemblyperson Daroyah Alwi who quit PKR to become a Perikatan Nasional-friendly independent.
Daroyah was the deputy Wanita PKR chief and also the Selangor PKR chief. Lembah Jaya assemblyperson Haniza Talha, who was the Wanita PKR chief, was also sacked earlier this month.
Nor Azrina also announced several new state Wanita PKR heads, namely Rohaidah Mamat (Federal Territories), Naziratul Aini Muhamad Sayuty (Kelantan), Junaida Jamaludin (Perak), Napsiah Khamis (Johor), Che Meriah Che Endut (Terengganu) and Barirah Mokktar (Pahang).
She said another six state Wanita chiefs will be announced in the near future.
At the central level, new faces were also appointed including Merbok MP Nurin Aina, Fadhlina Sidek, G Sivamalar, Zaliha Mustafa, Loh Ker Chean.
"The new leadership line-up not only has new faces but combines from the young and experience with multiracial backgrounds," said Nor Azrina.
She said the wing is prepared to face any eventualities, including efforts to restore the Pakatan Harapan government.
The Harapan government collapsed in late February after Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin pulled his party out of the coalition government.
Muhyiddin was sworn in as the new prime minister on March 1 after putting together the new PN coalition comprising Bersatu, PKR defectors, BN, PAS, GPS, PBS and STAR.
The PKR defectors were led by Azmin, who also brought several of his supporters to PN.
