Two men fined for flouting home quarantine
Two men, one from Kuala Lumpur and the other from Tawau, Sabah were slapped with RM1,000 and RM2,000 compounds, respectively, for violating home quarantine orders under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin@Hilmi said police received a tip-off that a man wearing a pink Covid-19 quarantine wristband was seen sitting in a condominium lobby in Mont Kiara last Thursday.
“A check found the man had just returned from Singapore and had been placed under the 14-day mandatory quarantine from July 12 to Aug 1,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
Zairulnizam said the man, when compounded, said that he was in the lobby to collect his letters from the condominium mailbox.
“I would like to emphasise that police will not compromise with those who violate the recovery movement control order (RMCO) and legal action will be taken,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, in Tawau, a man, who was investigated for taking off his wristband under the quarantine order and also cheated in his health declaration form, was compounded RM2,000.
Tawau district environment health officer Rahman Sampe who confirmed the matter said the man, in his 30s, was fined RM1,000 each for both offences on July 24.
The man had a history of travelling to Japan and had returned to Malaysia earlier this month.
Prior to this, the media reported that the Tawau District Health Office was investigating a man in Tawau who had failed to furnish accurate information on his travel history abroad in a health form he filled at the KL International Airport (KLIA).
The man had also thrown away the wristband he wore under the quarantine order before taking a flight to Tawau to avoid home quarantine.
