The PAS Youth today urged the government to immediately set up a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the alleged mismanagement in Tabung Haji.
In saying this, its chief Khairil Nizam Khiruddin (above) stressed that an open debate such as the one held between former minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa and former TH chairperson Abdul Azeez Rahim last week would not help solve the agency's issues.
"On behalf of PAS Youth, I see that the debate that went on for one hour and a half is not going to solve the issues faced by TH.
"That is why since last year we have stressed that an RCI must be conducted, and this RCI should cover not only the time when TH was under Pakatan Harapan, but also back during the time when BN was in power," he said when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Khairil was asked to comment on the debate between Mujahid, who is from Amanah, and Azeez (Umno), and whether PAS was satisfied with the content.

On Aug 10, the government had stated that it was considering the need to set up an RCI to investigate alleged misappropriation of funds in TH.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri told the Parliament then that the matter would be discussed at a cabinet meeting soon.
“The government understands that there must be an independent and authoritative body to review and evaluate all transactions carried out by TH.
"The cabinet meeting in the near future will discuss in-depth the TH issue, including the proposal and justification for the establishment of an RCI," he said when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's royal address at the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
Meanwhile, Khairil added that only through an RCI that the people can get more information on the real situation in TH.
"The debate is just a debate where we can listen to arguments from both sides. And both tried to introduce their facts.
"It was a realisation to the rakyat, and now we want an independent party to determine the way forward for TH. This should be sped up," he said.
