Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng said he would address his successor Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s allegations regarding direct award contacts at a press conference tomorrow.

Lim said on Twitter that the press conference will be held at 11am at the Parliament building.

“Big lie by the Perikatan Nasional minister of finance. The truth shall be exposed tomorrow. Stay tuned,” he said.

On Monday, Zafrul claimed that Lim had approved 101 projects worth RM6.61 billion through direct negotiation during the Pakatan Harapan federal administration.

The claim had prompted bipartisan calls - including from Lim - to release details of the contracts.

Zafrul then released a list of the contracts earlier today.

He also explained there are five specific circumstances where such contracts are allowed, namely:

  1. Emergency services which if delayed could disrupt services or affect national interest.
  2. Ensuring uniformity to ensure compatibility between existing equipment and newly-acquired equipment.
  3. Where a service or supply only has one source.
  4. Matters concerning national security or strategic interest.
  5. A contract involving a bumiputera manufacturer which complies with requirements.
