COVID-19 | The Selangor government has resolved to implement several new initiatives following the rise of Covid-19 cases in the state.
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said any Selangor residents who recently returned from Sabah between Sept 20 and Sept 26 would be screened.
The Health Ministry only began screening arrivals from Sabah on Sept 27, and there have been cases of individuals who returned earlier developing Covid-19 symptoms.
Amirudin said the screening would be performed at Selcare Clinics beginning Oct 4. Those who wish to be screened will have to produce proof of travel and proof of residency.
A new rule has also been implemented to prevent clubs and bars from opening beyond 11pm. This will take effect tomorrow.
"Failure to comply with this order will result in immediate cancellation of business licence," he said.
Selangor will also set up four detention centres for undocumented migrants to reduce risks posed to frontliners.
Amirudin said the centres would be established in "suitable" locations. No further details were available.
He said that any conference or mass gatherings were "discouraged" and reminded that the maximum number of participants for such events was 250.
"I wish to remind that Selangor once had the highest case numbers at the start of the pandemic, but we managed to control it.
"It shows that our methods were effective if it was fully supported by the rakyat," he said.
