Prisons Department: Don't politicise Ebit Lew's aid to prisons community
The Prisons Department has urged all parties to not politicise religious preacher Ebit Lew's assistance to those under Covid-19 quarantine.
This came after certain quarters took to social media to lambast the Home Affairs Ministry over its alleged failure to help the Prisons Department which led the latter to seek help from Lew.

According to a statement by the department, it said that cooperation between it and NGO or individuals for charity purposes were a norm.
"The Prisons Department always welcomes this kind of cooperation to ease the government's burden in tackling the Covid-19 outbreak which has affected the prisons institution.
"The department is grateful and lucky to have numerous NGOs and individuals to offer assistance," the statement read.
Yesterday, Lew in a Facebook posting, said he had received a letter from the Pokok Sena Prison in Kedah and the Prisons Department headquarters and would extend his help to the prisons community who are under quarantine.
Among the items he donated included mattresses, pillows, towels, bedsheets, foodstuff and other essential items as well as 2,000 face shields.
Previously, the Prisons Department had said that six of its detention centres had recorded Covid-19 cases over the past two days.
They were the Alor Setar Prison, Tawau Prison, Pokok Sena Prison, the Kamunting Correctional Centre, the Penang Prison and the Kajang Women's Prison.
More than 1,200 cases involving detainees, staff and staff family members have been recorded in these detention centres.
