PARLIAMENT | Pejuang has listed 12 conditions for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to receive the support of the party's MPs for Budget 2021.
Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir (Independent-Jerlun) said that his party is determined to reject Budget 2021 if some of its proposed amendments were not entertained.
The 12 conditions included the extension of the loan moratorium and the lump sum withdrawal from Account 1 from the contributors' Employees Provident Fund (EPF), as stated by BN.
"We are determined to reject the budget if there are no changes to the conditions we put forward.
"These 12 conditions are given so that the government does not waste money in the current situation," Mukhriz said during the debate session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Another condition is to postpone construction projects involving ministry building premises.
Pejuang also wants a reduction in the allocation to the Prime Minister's Department, which was increased from RM7.9 billion to RM11 billion.
The party called on the government to include the postponement of all mega projects and focus on small ones.
"Reduce the number of cabinet ministers and reduce the salaries of ministers as well as deputy ministers, if possible by up to 30 percent.
"Increase the budget of the Health Ministry for non-communicable diseases, because even though we are struggling with Covid-19, it does not mean that other diseases have just disappeared," Mukhriz added.
Meanwhile, former minister Nazri Abdul Aziz (BN-Padang Rengas) said he was willing to support the budget.
However, the extension of the loan moratorium and the lump-sum withdrawal of EPF Account 1 should be considered by the government, Nazri said in the Dewan Rakyat.
