A new motion to discipline Shabudin Yahaya (PN-Tasek Gelugor) for a bloc vote miscount has been accepted.
Fahmi Fadzil (Pakatan Harapan-Lembah Pantai) submitted the second motion today, this time citing Shabudin for misleading the Dewan Rakyat.
An earlier motion for an emergency debate was rejected. Fahmi said this was a technicality.
In a letter issued today, Dewan Rakyat speaker Azhar Azizan Harun urged Shabudin to show cause and furnish any supporting documents.
On Monday, Shabudin had mistakenly marked as supporting a vote from Nazri Abdul Aziz (BN-Padang Rengas) during a bloc vote on Budget 2021 allocations for the Finance Ministry.
Nazri was, in fact, absent.
Shabudin has admitted to the mistake and apologised on Tuesday.
Fahmi, in his motion, said Shabudin had violated Standing Order 36(12) which covers making statements that mislead the House.
