DAP lawmaker Tan Kok Wai has apologised to Annuar Musa for claiming that 42 Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) land plots were sold since the latter became federal territories minister.
In a Twitter post, Annuar said the Cheras MP met him at his office this afternoon, where he submitted a letter of apology and retracted his accusation.
On Nov 18, Malaysiakini had reported Tan's allegation, which was made during a press conference in Parliament.
Queried by Malaysiakini, the Federal Territory DAP chairperson was unable to provide a list of the 42 plots but based his claim on how DBKL published three notices to alter the existing Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 in recent months.
Following this, Annuar, who is also BN secretary-general, said he would pursue legal action against Tan.
The Ketereh MP said since he had become a minister in March, he had not received any request from DBKL asking for his approval to sell any of its assets.
Commenting on his apology, Tan said it was the right thing to do.
“I admitted making a comment based on factually incorrect information. So I think as a gentleman, knowing that I have committed an error, it is only right for me to tender my apology,” he added.
Asked if Annuar had accepted his apology, Tan replied: “That is not important. It was the right thing (for me) to do.”
