Prosecution concludes case in Zahid corruption trial

The prosecution has concluded its case alleging corruption, money laundering and breach of trust against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, after hearing from its final witness today.
High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah will now hear written and oral submissions before deciding whether or not Zahid has to enter his defence.
Written submissions have been set for May 28, with June 11 for replies, while oral submissions will be made between June 28 and July 2.
Zahid is facing 47 charges involving funds from Yayasan Akalbudi - which he is the founder, owner, chairperson and sole signatory of.
This includes 12 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT), eight charges of corruption and 27 charges of money laundering.
The prosecution concluded its case after hearing from their 99th and final witness, MACC officer Khairudin Kilau.
The trial began on Nov 18, 2019, and the case has been heard over 53 days.
The prosecution was led by Raja Rozela Raja Toran, together with Ahmad Sazilee, Abdul Khairi, Gan Peng Kun, Lee Keng Fatt, Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong, Nur Aishah Maulat Ahmad Zakiuddin and Mohd Afif Ali.
The defence was led by Hisyam Teh Poh Teik and appearing with him were Ahmad Zaidi Zainal, Hamidi Mohd Noh, Rosal Azimin Ahmad, Mohd Haziq Dhiyauddin Razali and Aiman Abdul Rahman.
