Six districts in Selangor will be placed under a movement control order (MCO) for 12 days starting May 6, announced Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The districts affected are Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang which will be under the movement restriction from May 6 to 17.
Dine-in at eateries in these MCO areas is not allowed within this period, however, restaurants and hawker stalls can operate for takeaway orders.

Six districts in Selangor will be placed under a movement control order (MCO) for 12 days starting May 6, announced Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The districts affected are Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang which will be under the movement restriction from May 6 to 17.
This came after the National Security Council (NSC) scrutinised a proposal brought by Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and the Selangor NSC in a meeting today.
Interstate and interdistrict travel between these districts and outside these areas are not allowed except for work and emergency matters, Ismail said.
Dine-in at eateries will not be allowed within this period. However, restaurants and hawker stalls can operate for takeaway orders.
He said other economic activities are still allowed in these districts, while social activities are not permitted.
"Eateries such as restaurants, food trucks, food stalls, and kiosks can operate from 6am to 12am.
"Grocery stores, convenience stores, and pharmacies can open from 6am to 10pm. Same goes with petrol stations, except those located along highways which can operate all day," he said.
Ramadan bazaars under MCO districts are allowed to continue operating with strict compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
"However, the decision to continue their operation or shut them down is subjected to the authority of the state government and local government," he added.
According to the senior minister, the decision to impose the MCO came as these districts in Selangor saw a sharp increase of Covid-19 cases between April 20 and May 4.
The remaining three districts - Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Ulu Selangor - will continue to be under the conditional MCO.
Kuala Lumpur is not affected by the latest MCO announcement.
Ismail revealed that these six districts were identified using the Hotspots Identification for Dynamic Engagement (Hide) system designed by the government which can locate potential hotspots ahead of time.
On the work-from-home policy, which is part of the SOP for MCO areas, he said the relevant government agency will make a decision on the matter soon.
The minister also said parents who are picking up their children at boarding schools from May 7 onwards can proceed to do so even if they need to travel to MCO areas.
The Education Ministry will issue SOPs to facilitate the matter, he added.
On May 1, the Education Ministry announced that students at boarding schools, Form Six colleges, and vocational colleges can go home for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.
Students under group A (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu) will be allowed to return in stages starting May 6 while students under group B (other states) can return home from May 7 onwards.
Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin said those who need to travel to MCO districts for Covid-19 vaccines can do so.
"Individuals who need to travel interdistrict and interstate (Selangor-Kuala Lumpur) for Covid-19 vaccination at designated vaccination centres (PPV) only need to show their appointment details on the MySejahtera app, website, or SMS when passing through police roadblocks.
"They do not need to apply for police permission," he said in a statement tonight.
