Covid-19: Stop hesitating and impose lockdown now, Umno veep tells govt
Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin has urged the government to stop issuing confusing instructions and impose a nationwide lockdown.
In a statement, the politician stressed that the Covid-19 pandemic situation has come to a stage that requires drastic action.

In a statement, the politician stressed that the Covid-19 pandemic situation has come to a stage that requires drastic action.
"Data clearly shows that there is a decrease in the spread of the virus through infection clusters. However, the increase in cases is happening through sporadic infection.
"This means that the virus is spreading rapidly in the community.
"Malaysia must quickly impose a lockdown to curb the spread. There cannot be hesitation and confusing instructions," he said.
According to Khaled, standard operating procedures and health protocols are no longer working as the people are already experiencing pandemic fatigue.
Citing an example, he said such drastic action had also been taken by more developed countries which have much better capabilities in collecting and analysing data.
"This is because limiting people's movement is the best way to break the chain of infection in this pandemic.
"Malaysians, regardless whether they are VIPs, politicians or ordinary people, must all make some sacrifices and forget Hari Raya visits this time around, even between those who live in the same district. This is so that we can prevent infections.
"With slow vaccination progress, healthcare facilities now pushed to the maximum of their capacity and healthcare workers who are becoming more stressed, Malaysia is now in a critical phase in containing this outbreak," he said.
Khaled also urged the government to enhance the capabilities of its MySejahtera application.
He said the application should have moved beyond QR Code scanning and has the ability to notify users if they came close to other individuals who have been tested positive for Covid-19.
