The Selayang Hospital in Batu Caves, Selangor is now the second hospital in the country to procure a freezer container to handle the increasing number of Covid-19 deaths.
Previously, the Sungai Buloh Hospital reportedly resorted to procuring two freezer containers within the span of one week to deal with the number of patients dying from Covid-19.
Each container has a capacity of 20 bodies.
“After Sungai Buloh Hospital, it is now Selayang Hospital’s turn to be forced to prepare a special container to place the bodies of those who died from Covid-19,” the Health Ministry said in a posting on Twitter tonight.
There has been a spike of pandemic-related deaths since the start of this month, with the record of highest daily deaths being broken every few days.
In the past 14 days, Malaysia recorded 703 pandemic-related deaths nationwide, with a bulk of the deaths reported in Selangor.
