The BN Supreme Council yesterday appointed former Perak menteri besar Zambry Abdul Kadir as the coalition's new secretary-general.
He will replace Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, who was removed from the BN position in January in a move that saw coalition members not being consulted.
This time around, the supreme council made the decision as a coalition in appointing Zambry (above), who is the Pangkor assemblyperson.
The council also decided that Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man will be BN's new leader for Perlis.
Azlan, who is the Bintong assemblyperson, will replace Shahidan Kassim who was removed from his position as Umno Perlis head in April.
Both Annuar and Shahidan have been at odds with the Umno leadership, which is inclined to break ties with Bersatu during the next general election.
Meanwhile, the BN Supreme Council resolved to improve its party machinery in helping the vaccination registration programme, targeting the elderly, the frail and rural folks.
