Some senior citizens have found that they were "ineligible" for Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).
Several Twitter users complained online that this has caused anxiety among the elderly who have been waiting for months to be vaccinated.
Phase 2 began in mid-April with a goal of vaccinating 9.4 million people age 60 and above, people with health problems and people with disabilities.
Twitter user @kopihigh said her aunt in Malacca, who is 64, registered for vaccination on Feb 24 but has yet to receive an appointment.
"We reached the help desk and was told that she was not eligible for Phase 2," said the Twitter user.
This Twitter user said this in response to government data which suggested that no one was vaccinated in Malacca the day before.
The Twitter user's complaint received a reply from MySejahtera's Twitter account, which assured her that the matter would be looked into.
However, Twitter user @kopihigh said it was still frustrating that it took an "angry tweet" to resolve matters.
"Why do we always have to resort to this? Imagine how many other old folks out there with no access to smartphones let alone social media that might still in the dark about the vaccination programme?" wrote the person.
Malaysiakini has contacted Special Committee Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) for comment.
The reply by MySejahtera was met with other complaints on senior citizens being left out.
Another netizen who wished to remain anonymous said her parents were told they were not eligible for Phase 2 of the NIP.
"I tried this too for my parents (ages 65 and 63) and clicked on 'no it doesn't work'. They sent me an email and said my parents were not eligible for Phase 2 instead," she tweeted.
Putrajaya aims to achieve herd immunity by the end of the year at the earliest by inoculating 80 percent of its population, or 26.7 million people.
Early last month, the government estimated a delay in the implementation of Phase 3 of NIP due to a vaccine supply issue. Phase 3 will involve the adult population above 18 and precedence will be given to those at the red zones and yellow zones.
On June 12, the government announced Phase 4 of NIP, an on-site vaccination exercise at designated factories and industrial locations.
