Agong to meet Dewan Rakyat, Dewan Negara chiefs next week
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has summoned Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun and Dewan Negara President Rais Yatim for a meeting.
Rais confirmed with Malaysiakini that the meeting will be held at 11am next Tuesday (June 29).

Free Malaysia Today confirmed the invitations with the Royal Comptroller Ahmad Shamsuddin tonight.
News portal The Vibes earlier quoted a source as saying that the meetings will possibly be about “opening Parliament”.
These meetings with the chiefs of both legislative houses come after the Perikatan Nasional government responded less than enthusiastically to His Majesty’s call for Parliament to reconvene "as soon as possible".
The Conference of Rulers had also urged for the august houses to convene “immediately”.
Parliament has been suspended since Jan 11 when the emergency came into force.
In response, the government indicated that it prefers to reopen Parliament in three to four months’ time provided Malaysia recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic according to plan.
PN is also studying ways to conduct “hybrid” Parliament sessions but has not committed to any date for them yet.
Meetings with leaders
Yesterday, Azhar and Rais proposed that the hybrid sitting be held in late August or early September.
According to Attorney-General Idrus Harun, it is ultimately up to the cabinet to advise the king on when His Majesty can convene Parliament.
The Agong’s has already had more meetings than usual this month.
From the government bench, he has met Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, MCA president Wee Ka Siong, MIC president S Vigneswaran, PBS president Maximus Ongkili and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He has also spoken to GPS leaders online.
From the opposition bench, His Majesty has met opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, Pejuang chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Warisan president Shafie Apdal.
He later met with Special Independent Committee on the Emergency chairperson Ariffin Zakaria and also with the Conference of Rulers.
