Veteran Umno leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has urged the public to pray that the ministers in Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s new cabinet will only get half the pay they received under former premier Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.
“Many have asked what my response to the newly announced cabinet is.
“I remarked that no predictions can be made apart from those who have been chosen, because this is the only choice available. Surely Umno will be disappointed with the new cabinet line-up.
“Let us pray their salary is at least half of the amount they were paid under Muhyiddin,” he said in a statement today.
The Gua Musang MP said this when asked about Ismail Sabri’s cabinet announcement earlier today.

The opposition had described the new line-up as ‘Perikatan Nasional government 2.0’ because many of Muhyiddin’s ministers had been retained in Ismail Sabri’s cabinet.
Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, meanwhile, had defended the new cabinet amid widespread disappointment amongst the public.
In his announcement, Ismail Sabri said the cabinet’s main task is to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic and revive the economy.
He said each minister must show results within 100 days of their appointment.
