Malacca speaker Ab Rauf Yusoh - who is also the state Umno chief - is expected to make an announcement on this at 3pm today.
The Malacca state government is led by Sulaiman, who is from Umno.
However, wind about a possible collapse of the state administration had been blowing for about a week, before 11 Pakatan Harapan state assemblypersons in the Malacca state government and four others announced that they had withdrawn their support for Sulaiman.
An announcement was made yesterday, saying that they were going to seek a meeting with Ali.
"The meeting is to discuss efforts that can be taken to ensure political stability in the state and the continuity of the state administration," said Adly Zahari, a former Malacca chief minister from Harapan, in a statement.
Malaysiakini has contacted Rauf, who confirmed the 3pm press conference.
However, the state Umno liaison committee chief was tight-lipped on whether Ali had given his nod for the dissolution.
"Wait for the press conference," he briefly told Malaysiakini.
