Ex-Malacca state reps claim being treated as ‘enemies of the state’

PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin today claimed that two former Malacca state assembly members who retracted their support for the BN-Perikatan Nasional state government have since been treated as "enemies of the state".
The Hang Tuah Jaya MP, in a press conference earlier today, called for the state government to stop the alleged bullying.
"We have received information from the two former state assemblypersons, Norhizam Hassan Baktee and Noor Effandi Ahmad about how they were treated in Malacca (since they withdrew their support). They became like enemies of the state.
"If a state legislative assembly is dissolved, by right, there should be no exco member or state assemblyperson who are allowed to use any government facility at all.
"But do not treat the former state assemblypersons like they are enemies of the state. We have to be respectful, do not treat them as if they have no contribution to the state government at all," Shamsul (above) said during the presser, which was also joined by Norhizam and Effandi.
Norhizam, who is also a former state exco member, claimed that the caretaker state government had ordered three of them to cease using any state government facilities.
"When there is no longer a state assembly, there is also no more state executive council. Thus, we are no longer allowed to enter all facilities in Malacca such as the community service centre. The state government took all that privilege back.
"They also take back our official car and such, which I have no problem returning, because I no longer have the right to use them.
"However, the unfair part is that only three of us (who withdrew support) had to return all the facilities. But six others are allowed to continue using the state government vehicles as if they own them," he said.
Norhizam and Effandi are part of four state assembly members who withdrew their support for the BN-PN state government, which triggered the dissolution of the Malacca state legislative assembly and automatically paved the way for a fresh state election.
The other two were Nor Azman Hassan (Umno-Pantai Kundor) and Idris Haron (Umno-Sungai Udang).
Their withdrawal of support has resulted in Umno’s Sulaiman Md Ali, who was the former chief minister, losing his majority.
