PAS YOUTH MUKTAMAR | Newly elected PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the party was now spoilt for choice in allies for the upcoming Malacca legislative assembly election.
“To me, PAS is not in a situation where it has to make a difficult choice. I see PAS as a party that is sought after by many.
“We are not tersepit (stuck). We have values that are appreciated by both Umno and Bersatu,” he told reporters after the conclusion of the PAS Youth annual delegates assembly in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan today.
Umno’s leadership has resolved to work with PAS in the upcoming Malacca elections. However, PAS is also committed to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition led by Bersatu, a party that Umno will not work with.
PAS has also committed to using the PN logo during the elections, a decision that Umno does not accept.
Fadhli said PAS' goal was to ensure that Bersatu, Umno and PAS do not face each other during the Malacca elections.
“I understand that PAS will issue a statement soon and we’ll explain the latest developments,” he said.
On Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin’s claims that PN was prepared for multi-cornered fights during the Malacca elections, Fadhli said he was optimistic that it would not happen.
“I believe that (all parties) wish to go to the negotiation table,” he said.
He said that his party's youth delegates resolved earlier today to stand by any decision made by party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
“Once a decision is made, we will not second guess. So let’s wait and see what decision will be made by the party president,” he said.
