MUKTAMAR | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang urged the party’s supporters in Malacca to vote for Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming legislative assembly election.

“The PAS central committee has made a decision and the decision is we will use the PN logo (for the Malacca polls).

“We will vote for PN. (The coalition parties) will use a common logo. We shall see what logo Umno uses,” he said.

Hadi said this when asked for his advice for PAS supporters in Malacca in the event they have to choose between PN and BN.

Negotiations between BN and PN - who are allies at the federal government level - for the Malacca election have collapsed.

BN announced their 28 candidates for the election today while PN is scheduled to do the same at 5pm.

Meanwhile, Hadi said that the door was still open for Umno to collaborate with PN.

“The PN stand is to field candidates for all (28) seats. It’s up to Umno whether they want to join us or go solo. We shall see on nomination day.

“Our advice to our members is to support PN. PAS has agreed to be with PN for this election,” he said.

Hadi said PAS will field candidates for a third of the 28 seats.

“PAS is not greedy because (PN in Peninsular Malaysia) has three parties. (Our decision to field candidates is determined by) where we have branches.

“There is give and take. Some Bersatu strongholds will be assigned to us and some of our strongholds assigned to them,” said Hadi.

However, Hadi said PAS was still bound by the Muafakat Nasional charter with Umno.

“We did not forget. We are holding on to the charter. The charter does not involve just Umno and PAS. Umno has changed. Now some of their MPs support a ‘new alignment’.

“Some want to be with PN. For the Malacca elections, I hope they will change as well. We (in PAS) are open to all, but we must adhere to the charter.

“Let’s wait for nomination day,” said Hadi.
