PBB veep predicts annihilation for PKR in S'wak polls

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has predicted that PKR will fail to win a single seat in the upcoming Sarawak election.
"I don't give PKR any chance in this upcoming state election. Based on my own observation, I think they will win zero seats.
"I may sound arrogant but looking at the present leadership of Sarawak PKR, I think they will not even secure a single seat," he was quoted as saying by the Borneo Post.
Karim (above) was commenting on Sarawak PKR secretary Joshua Jabeng's remarks that the party will field 47 candidates during the election widely expected to be held before Christmas next month.
PKR, DAP and Amanah had struck a deal earlier this year. DAP will field 26 candidates while Amanah will field nine.
At the moment, the three parties do not appear to be forging an alliance with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), which had six assemblypersons prior to the dissolution of the state assembly on Nov 3.
Sarawak PKR won three seats during the 2016 state election. However, all three assemblypersons defected, along with many of their supporters.
On PSB's chances, Karim said he does not expect the party to perform well.
"We respect PKR, PSB and all but we have been through many elections. There were always political parties that announced their intention to contest in about 40 or even all of the 82 seats but in the end, they could only win one or two," he added.
Karim considered PSB as a Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) splinter group which is now housing people who are disgruntled with PBB, PKR and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
He said PSB members do not have a common ideology.
Karim was optimistic that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) - a coalition involving PBB, PRS, SUPP and the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) - was assured of a landslide victory during the election.
