The Selangor government expects the flood at Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam to recede much faster now, after power was restored to a 'jammed' sluice gate that controls the flow of water into the nearest river.
Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari in a brief update of the situation this morning said another generator from Tenaga Nasional Bhd was successfully taken to the gate.
"The sluice gate in Sri Muda is now operational again with power supply from a TNB generator.
"The Shah Alam City Council and Armed Forces worked hard up to 3am this morning to remove vehicles which were blocking the way.
"With the gate operational, water receding would be much faster, Insha Allah," Amirudin said on Facebook.
It was reported yesterday that flood levels in Taman Sri Muda had receded at a slower rate due to a "jammed" sluice gate.
Taman Sri Muda was among the worst-hit areas in Selangor, alongside Klang and Hulu Langat.
Thousands of residents were displaced after record rainfall from Friday to early Sunday morning.
