Kulai MP asks MOE to confirm 'dream wedding' SPM question

Former deputy education minister Teo Nie Ching has expressed shock over a question that was allegedly asked during the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Bahasa Melayu oral examination.
In a statement today, the Kulai MP requested that the ministry verify if the question - “What is your dream wedding?” - was actually asked as part of the exams.
If true, the question is completely inappropriate and should not be posed to Form 5 students who are only 17, she said.
“They should not even be thinking about marriage because there are many other important issues in their lives, like what they want to achieve academically.
“If it's true that the question was asked, the ministry should apologise to all Form 5 students and their parents,” she added.
She said the ministry should strive to ask questions that are more dignified and relevant.
Teo was responding to parents and students who raised the issue and voiced objections to such a question on social media.
