Star open to KDM's entry into GRS

Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) has open to accepting newly registered Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) into the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.

Star president Jeffrey Kitingan (above) said KDM comprised former Warisan figures, especially its leader Peter Anthony.

However, he believed that KDM's entry into GRS would require a consensus from all coalition members.

"For me, there's no problem, but we have to listen to the others," he said, according to Sinar Harian.

Kitingan said he believed the GRS leadership would discuss KDM's application as soon as possible.

"I see this as an opportunity to strengthen the government because this government wants to see unity," he said.

KDM was formally registered on Feb 18. Peter quit Warisan in December, blaming the party's expansion to Peninsular Malaysia instead of focusing on Sabah as the primary reason.

In announcing the new party, the Melalap assemblyperson said KDM's first agenda was to join GRS.

So far, GRS coalition member Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) wants KDM to prove its worth and loyalty first before its application can be considered.
