Ramasamy hauled up by Bukit Aman over comments on Loh custody case

“I am here in Kuala Lumpur for this purpose. I have an 11am appointment at Bukit Aman. This is on allegations that I made provocative statements on the Loh custody matter.
“It’s based on a Facebook article saying that the children had been kidnapped.
“My lawyers will be with me,” Ramasamy (above) told Malaysiakini, adding that he had nothing to hide.
The comments were made on a post on Feb 13 in which Ramasamy detailed the unilateral conversion of Loh's children and compared it to the case of Indira Gandhi whose daughter is still missing after her ex-husband absconded with her.
It is understood that Ramasamy is being probed under Section 505 (c) of the Penal Code for intent to incitement.
The section reads: “Whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report with intent to incite or which is likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.”
He is also being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for abuse of network services.
The Perai assemblyperson said he was just voicing out concerns on behalf of a mother who lost her children and now has her kids back, adding his belief that the police should also investigate Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin.
Since the post, Loh subsequently won her habeas corpus application that the Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered her children to be reunited with her.
Her twins - 14-year-old daughters - and a son, 10, had been under the care of the Perlis Welfare Department after they were unilaterally converted to Islam.
Malaysiakini reported that Loh was a victim of abuse by her drug addict ex-husband, who is currently serving a two-year jail sentence in Machang, Kelantan.
He is expected to be released in November.
