YOURSAY | Adulation for Najib – have we lost our moral compass?

YOURSAY | ‘MCA has no shame to bring a convicted felon as their good luck charm.’

'Even OJ Simpson can draw a crowd' - Kepong MP on Najib appearance

MCA's Perling candidate brings her 'secret weapon' – Najib

BobbyO: If the Chinese in Johor can support a party and a leader that have allegedly robbed and plundered the nation, then there is hardly any hope left.

The Scorpene fiasco, the 1MDB heist and the SRC robbery are just three of the main billion-ringgit deals that have damaged the reputation of this nation.

Only God will know what this couple (former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and wife Rosmah Mansor) will put their hands on should they return to power.

At the same time, there is hardly any shame shown by Najib. Also, by all those who surround him and support such blatant actions.

Vent: "I feel honoured that he (Najib) is willing to help me in this election," said MCA's Perling candidate Nicole Tan Hiang Kee.

So, there we have it. MCA is not just a running dog for Umno, it also supports a shameless convicted felon unashamedly.

I guess it's a case of birds of a feather flocking together - or perhaps the other avian adage - 'What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander too' may be more befitting?

The Wakandan: Thieves and robbers are not necessarily hated. You have Robin Hood, Bonnie and Clyde and Ali Baba.

BN supporters probably think Najib is better than former prime ministers Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang. They probably do not want to change allegiance as long-time BN supporters.

In any case, Najib is not the one contesting, so the issue of supporting him politically does not arise.

What about his trial? We have seen many court clusters already set free during Perikatan Nasional’s time. So what is PN babbling about?

I think those Chinese are fed up with all the hypocrisy.

Mosquitobrain: Health Ministry, do the honourable thing. Dare you issue ‘Malu Apa Bossku’ a compound for breaking social distancing like how you played Sherlock Holmes to track down Bukit Permai Muda candidate Azrol Rahani and issued a RM1,000 compound just for doing a fist bump.

Bossku is seen here with no social distancing at the food court in Perling.

Goliath: Only in Malaysia can the words ‘star power’ and ‘convicted of corruption’ be written in the same sentence. And only in Malaysia can an electoral candidate use this convict as a person to win her votes.

There is no decency left in MCA or in any of the BN component parties, particularly to this candidate, and no righteousness of principles anymore in Malaysian politics.

Please stop serving this country if you cannot tell wrong from right. We do not need such people running the country.

Maya: Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, not all politicians are good, compassionate and sincere like you.

Remember these Chinese may not be against anybody. They are simply tired of what is going on, especially about the current political climate.

Many are feeling the pinch. They do not want the current government back.

Most Chinese feel they were better off before GE14 and for a while during the Pakatan Harapan rule, but Harapan had let them down badly because of all the infighting.

Even now, can the opposition clearly state that they will all stick together and do what is most needed? No way!

The Chinese are risk-takers and they will bet on the side with the best chances, especially when it comes to their well-being. Let us be frank. No one can promise us the world anymore.

If someone can promise us peace, stability and survival, why not? Take what you can get, but let us be as we are - that's the talk on the ground now. Let's not be in denial.

Shibboleth: Malaysians of all colours will slow down to gawk at an accident on the highway, resulting in a jam. We quickly buy toilet paper when there is a rumour of food shortage.

So, why are you all so surprised when a group of people surround a convicted felon and treat him like a celebrity? Either they have eaten "nian kow" (sweet rice cake) or they are enjoying a freak show.

Doc: I wonder if the good Chinese people of Johor are missing the good old days of the 1990s and 2000s when Umno ‘ketuanan’ leaders used to brandish the keris at Umno’s AGM and frequently tell the Chinese community that if they are not happy with Umno’s race-based running of the country, they can pack up and leave.

It looks like the Chinese miss being oppressed and hope that Umno, their ‘ketuanan’ politicians and their racist policies will return.

Is that why Bossku is getting so much support from the Chinese community down south?

OCT: MCA has no moral compass. MCA has no shame to bring a convicted felon as their good luck charm. This shows MCA doesn't care about integrity, honour and shame as long as they can win the seat.

This is incredibly stupid. This is an election to determine the future of the state and not to promote grand larceny. MCA really has no principles. They cannot differentiate between right and wrong, good and bad, corruption and honesty.

If the rakyat in Perling vote for MCA, there is no hope for the future.

Fred Flint Stone: What is wrong with this country? This man is a convicted thief. He is a disgrace to the country he is supposed to serve.

Once my friend showed me a photo of him and a bygone prime minister from his wallet. After so many years, the almost faded photo is equivalent to the money in his wallet.

I believe the only place that there is poor response to rush for such a photo session is in the cemetery, where the mortal bodies are interred.
