The lifespan of Umno’s cooperation with PAS through Muafakat Nasional has not reached its end, despite the rocky relationship between the two parties, Mohamad Hasan said.
At the same time, the Umno deputy president said his party would never enter into a pact with those who are considered disloyal in the cooperation.
“Muafakat has not reached its end. Even though it has reached its last stages, it is not a finished chapter. It’s best for us to think about it together.
“However, we (Umno) need to explain that we only (want) those who are loyal, as I mentioned earlier,” Mohamad, who is widely known as Tok Mat, said during a presser after launching the annual general meetings (AGMs) of the Umno party wings at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur last night.
However, the former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar did not give further explanation on the meaning behind his statement.
For the record, in his speech during the launch of the AGMs, Mohamad threw shade at PAS, calling it a party with “wandering eyes” that is “in bed with various enemies of Umno".
PAS has attacked Umno on multiple occasions, with its president Abdul Hadi Awang being one of the most vocal leaders.
However, some believe that there are a few PAS members and leaders who want to restore the party's relationship with Umno.
Mohamad said the position of Muafakat, which was formed by Umno and PAS, needed to be clarified so as not to cause confusion to Umno members.
