Bukit Aman today said its Australian counterpart had found human remains believed to belong to a Malaysian man with ties to a drug syndicate who had been murdered more than a year ago.
In a statement, police Narcotics Department director Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Australian authorities on Sunday found a set of skeletons at a location in the east coast state of New South Wales.

In a statement, police Narcotics Department director Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Australian authorities on Sunday found a set of skeletons at a location in the east coast state of New South Wales.
"The victim is believed to have been murdered over a year ago. Checks revealed that the victim is believed to be a 25-year-old Malaysian national who hailed from Sarawak.
"He is believed to have entered Australia in November 2016 on a tourist visa and was offered to work as a farmhand by a syndicate that authorities suspect is involved in drug-related activities.
"The Australian authorities are still investigating the case and any update will be relayed to us for further action," he said.
While Ayob did not reveal any names, it was understood that he was referring to the murder case of 'Jacky' Chong Kai Wong, whose remains were found by the New South Wales (NSW) police force during its investigation of a rural area of Killongbutta.
According to statements published on the NSW police website, the search for Chong's remains was carried out after police learned about his murder during an investigation into a syndicate involved in cultivating cannabis and distributing the drugs.
The NSW police believed that the victim was killed in Killongbutta between Dec 25, 2020, and Jan 8, 2021.
"Three men – aged 33, 22 and 28 – have since been arrested and charged over their alleged involvement in the murder and remain before the courts.
"As part of ongoing investigations, strike force detectives and other specialist resources have been undertaking a coordinated forensic search of the Killongbutta property since last Tuesday (March 29, 2022).
"Human remains were located within the search area about 3.30pm yesterday (April 3). The remains will be subject to forensic examination and further analysis, including DNA testing," the NSW police said in a statement.
They said the remains are believed to be Chong, although yet to be formally identified.
