Samsuri calls 'leaked' document 'rubbish' but admits there were meetings

PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has denied the contents of a "leaked document" purportedly claiming that he and another PAS leader were discussing several plots with Umno and Bersatu personalities.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Terengganu today, Samsuri described the "leaked document" as "rubbish".
According to Bernama, he conceded that he attended meetings with some of the Umno and Bersatu personalities named in the "leaked document".
However, he denied that the meetings were held to hatch political plots.
"It is not true. I don't know where (the document) came from. Even my name was spelt incorrectly.
"They (the irresponsible parties) knew there were meetings, so they created a narrative (that had gone viral)," he said.
Legal Action
Samsuri dismissed the idea of taking legal action when questioned because it would be a waste of time.
"We don't know who spread it, the legal process is complicated and not worth (to be pursued) for the people...
"I think this 'too good to be true' (allegations) should not be entertained," he added.
The so-called leaked document contained summaries of Samsuri and another PAS leader’s alleged conversations with several Umno and Bersatu leaders that took place between March 24 and April 7.
Some Umno figures, such as veteran member Shahrir Abdul Samad and supreme council member Ahmad Shabery Cheek, said those named in the document should come out to clear the air because of the very damning allegations made.
Among other issues, Shahrir said the document suggested that there was a high-level conspiracy involved in the criminal trials against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his predecessor Najib Abdul Razak.
Study the matter
Meanwhile, Zahid responded to Shahrir's statement by urging the public to study the matter themselves.
"It is up to the rakyat and Umno to evaluate (the matter) themselves," he wrote on his Facebook page.
Malaysiakini is attempting to contact other individuals named in the so-called leaked document for comment.
So far, Samsuri is the only one of eight political figures named in the so-called leaked document to have denied its contents.
The document has been in circulation for the past few days but only garnered more attention when it was uploaded to a website called Malaysia Hot on April 18.
