The Sabah government will impose stricter restrictions on nightclubs compared to Putrajaya.
Nightclubs will be allowed to reopen this weekend, among the last businesses allowed to resume operations following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
Sabah's Local Government and Housing Minister Masidi Manjun, who is also the state's Covid-19 spokesperson, said dancing will not be allowed when pubs and nightclubs reopen today.
“Dancing is not allowed at this time. Secondly, those entering the nightclubs and karaoke centres must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose.
“And thirdly, examination of risk levels and scanning of MySejahtera is mandatory before entering a nightclub or karaoke,” he was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.
The rules are largely similar to what is outlined by Putrajaya but federal guidelines allow for dancing activities within such premises.
According to the Health Ministry’s rules at the federal level, patrons are also allowed to take off their masks while dancing.
Nightclubs are also allowed to fill up the entire dance floor.
