Actor Afdlin Shauki has lodged a police report against PKR's Party Election Committee (JPP) for fraud.
After lodging the report at the Pudu police station last night, Afdlin told the press that the committee's conduct raised a lot of suspicions and his complaints were not addressed.
"We have lodged reports to the JPP but no action was taken... Therefore, we are forced to lodge this report to the police in order to initiate investigations," he said.
Afdlin alleged that some votes were "missing" during the tabulation process for the Setiawangsa PKR division election.
He said the vote-counting process was conducted without scrutineers for the candidates and the counting method was not revealed.
The actor also claimed that the voting centre was staffed by at least two interested parties.
During the party election, Afdlin challenged incumbent Setiawangsa PKR division chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
The unofficial result saw Nik Nazmi retaining his position with 482 votes to Afdlin's 372 votes.
Call for disciplinary action
Sabah PKR Youth information chief Razeef Rakimin urged the party leadership to take disciplinary action against Afdlin for lodging the police report and thus tarnishing the party's image.
Razeef said the JPP has not completed the vote-counting process but had already addressed many allegations.
However, Razeef said candidates cannot expect the committee to address individual complaints at this point.
"If Afdlin was not confident in the JPP’s transparency, he should withdraw from the central leadership council (MPP) election.
"It is very funny that he is seeking an MPP position while accusing the JPP of cheating," he added.
