Anwar to make return to iconic Umno landmark WTC KL

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim will be at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL), formerly known as the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), for a book launch this Sunday (June 12).
Anwar is set to launch national laureate A Samad Said's new omnibus containing "Salina", "Langit Petang", and "Hujan Pagi" at the main stage of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF).
According to promotional materials for the event, Anwar was introduced not as a politician but as chairperson emeritus of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).
Checks with Anwar's office suggested that this will likely mark his first time in the building in 24 years.
The building is constantly used as the venue for the Umno general assembly.
WTC KL is owned by Umno - a party which groomed Anwar into a deputy prime minister and the party's deputy president.
In 1998, Umno, under the helm of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, sacked Anwar from the party and government over various alleged misconduct.
Following this, Anwar became one of Umno's main adversaries.
Yesterday, Lim Kit Siang - another one of Umno's frequent targets - was also on the main stage of the KLIBF.
Lim took part in a panel discussion on Kee Thuan Chye's book "Lim Kit Siang: Malaysian First".
