Covid-19 (June 11): 1,709 new cases, 2 fatalities

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 1,709 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,524,727.

Active cases stood at 22,712, down 6.8 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (660)
Kuala Lumpur (411)
Penang (131)
Perak (122)
Negeri Sembilan (89)
Putrajaya (52)
Malacca (48)
Johor (43)
Sabah (38)
Sarawak (35)
Kedah (30)
Pahang (27)
Kelantan (10)
Perlis (7)
Terengganu (6)
Labuan (0)

Another two deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, neither of which were declared as "brought in dead".

Over the past week, an average of 3.6 people were reported to have died of the coronavirus.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,711 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There were 129 deaths last month and 564 in April.

The two fatalities were in Perak (1) and Selangor (1).

There are 956 Covid-19 patients hospitalised of which 24 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (165) followed by Johor (70) and Sabah (59).
