A trailer carrying timber overturned in an accident involving four other vehicles at Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, Kelantan, last night.
Gua Musang District police chief superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the accident occurred at about 6.30pm at kilometre 65 after a Proton Wira skidded to the right of the road and hit a trailer coming from the opposite direction.
“This caused the trailer to overturn in the middle of the road, then two cars - a Perodua Alza and a Proton Exora - did not manage to evade and collided with logs that fell on the road.
“As a result, the traffic situation was blocked for 5km from both directions,” he said in a press statement when contacted yesterday.
Photos of the accident showing the overturned trailer, the other vehicles involved, and logs strewn across the road went viral on social media.

The incident caused the main road connecting the two districts to be blocked, resulting in heavy congestion.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
Sik said everyone involved was safe, and only the trailer driver had suffered minor injuries.
“Traffic conditions returned to normal after the clean-up work was done, which took up to six hours.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving resulting in an accident, and investigations are still underway,” he added.
