Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin should be awarded Malaysia’s best actor for his offer to cooperate with opposition parties against BN in the 15th general election, said PKR deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat.

In a statement today, Chua said Muhyiddin’s acting is so good that he fooled himself into forgetting that it was him who colluded with Umno during the Sheraton Move which saw the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government at the time.

“PN and Muhyiddin are among those who are least qualified to talk about saving the country because PN is the one that helped BN snatch power through the back door.

“Muhyiddin is trying to create the perception that what is happening now has nothing to do with PN. This level of performance must be given the recognition of best actor in Malaysia,” Chua said, adding that the rakyat will not forget Muhyiddin’s role in the Sheraton Move.

They also will not forget that it was Muhyiddin who used the Covid-19 pandemic as an excuse to stop Parliament from functioning only to invite opposition parties to cooperate at the last minute before the PN government was toppled by BN, he said.

“PKR deputy president Rafizi already announced that the Harapan presidential council has rejected cooperation with PN because the rakyat wants a political party that can bring stability and not cooperate only for the sake of grabbing power.

“From the Sheraton Move till now, the rakyat has seen that PN is the main cause of the political instability in Malaysia,” Chua said.

He added that if PN was truly sincere about wanting to save the country, they should disband.

During the PN convention last weekend, Muhyiddin said they were open to negotiating with any parties that want to fight BN.

He later clarified that his call for an opposition pact was made in the interest of Malaysia’s future and not for the coalition.

The former prime minister also dismissed Rafizi’s statement that Harapan will not cooperate with PN as the latter’s personal opinion.
