Pengerang MP Azalina Othman Said has denied a news report claiming that she has resigned as the prime minister's special adviser on law and human rights.
"I wish to confirm that as of Aug 31, I am still (the prime minister's) adviser on law and human rights.
"I would like to take this opportunity to wish (everyone) Selamat Hari Merdeka," Azalina briefly wrote on Facebook this morning.
Last night, Sinar Harian cited anonymous sources in reporting that Azalina had resigned from that position.
Azalina was appointed as a special adviser to the prime minister on Oct 2 last year, slightly over a month after stepping down as Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker.
She recently courted controversy when she told an Umno gathering that she was of the opinion that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob should have chosen a new attorney-general.
