Umno won’t be in power if not for Bersatu – Tuan Ibrahim

Umno would not be in the federal government if not for Bersatu, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.

According to him, Umno should not forget "friends" who put the party in power when considering political cooperation for the general election.

"We cannot neglect our friends from Bersatu. Without them, Umno may not be in the federal government today.

"We can't forget 'friends' after we have won (the elections). Friends should stick together through thick and thin.

"Political cooperation should not be temporary. In fact, it should chart the direction for the people and country," Tuan Ibrahim (above) said in his speech when officiating PAS Youth muktamar in Kedah today.

Also present at the event was PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.

For the record, PAS is part of the Muafakat Nasional pact with Umno. Things soured between both parties after the former joined the Bersatu-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

PAS even contested in the Malacca and Johor by-elections under the PN ticket.

The polemic began when Umno accused Bersatu of "backstabbing", even though both parties are part of the federal administration.

Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim said PN component parties have started talking about seat allocations for the general election and it would be finalised after discussions.

"We have formed a committee to discuss seat allocations and we are confident the matter can be settled amicably after a series of talks," he added.
