Likewise, children aged five to 12 with comorbidities or are immunocompromised can also get their first booster shot as a precaution against the Omicron variant.
The booster can be administered six months after the last vaccine shot is given.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin also announced that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding can get a booster dose.
Women who are high risk can also get a second booster dose during their pregnancy, in line with recommendations from the World Health Organization, he said.

On the type of vaccines given for second booster shots, Khairy announced that mix-and-match, or heterologous vaccines, can be administered for high-risk individuals.
The type of mix-and-match allowed includes giving vector vaccines such as AstraZeneca or mRNA vaccines such as Pfizer to those who had deactivated virus vaccines such as Sinovac.
Those who received vector vaccines can also get an mRNA booster, and vice-versa.
